About
Hydent-K from Abbott is a desensitising toothpaste containing Potassium Nitrate and Fluoride. It is made for people whose teeth twinge with cold drinks, sweets or even a breath of cool air — a common sign of dentine hypersensitivity.
Uses
- Sensitive teeth (hot, cold, sweet triggers)
- Daily oral care for sensitivity
- Cavity prevention with fluoride
How it works
Potassium nitrate calms the tiny nerve endings inside the tooth so painful sensations don't shoot through. Fluoride at the same time strengthens enamel and helps fight new cavities — so the tooth becomes both less sensitive and tougher.
How to take
Brush gently with a pea-sized amount twice a day, morning and night, for at least two minutes. For best effect, spit out and avoid rinsing heavily so the active layer stays on the teeth. Regular use over 2–4 weeks gives the full benefit.
Side effects
- Mild taste change
- Occasional gum tingling
- Rare allergic reaction
Precautions
Not for children under 12 unless advised by a dentist. Avoid swallowing the paste. If sensitivity persists beyond 4 weeks, see your dentist to rule out cavities or gum problems.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from sunlight and out of children's reach.
