About
Dermikem OCT Cream from Alkem is a prescription combination topical that pairs an antifungal with a steroid, an antibiotic and an antiprotozoal agent. It is meant for mixed skin infections where ringworm-like fungus, bacteria and inflammation appear together.
Uses
- Mixed fungal and bacterial skin infections
- Inflamed ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch
- Other complicated skin infections as advised by your doctor
How it works
Terbinafine attacks the fungus by interfering with its cell membrane. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that handles bacterial co-infection. Ornidazole adds cover against certain anaerobic and protozoal organisms. Clobetasol is a potent corticosteroid that calms the itch, redness and swelling.
How to take
Apply a thin layer on the cleaned, dry affected skin and just around it, as prescribed by your doctor. Wash hands before and after use, unless treating the hands themselves.
Side effects
- Burning, stinging or itching at the site
- Dryness, peeling or contact rash
- Skin thinning, stretch marks or pigment change with long use
- Rare allergic reaction
Precautions
Because this cream contains a potent steroid, it is for short, doctor-directed courses only. Avoid the face, underarms and groin unless your doctor agrees. Not for routine use in children, pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice. Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings.
Storage
Store below 25°C, away from light and heat. Cap tightly after use. Keep out of reach of children.
