About
Tacronol Ointment from Knoll Healthcare contains tacrolimus, a non-steroid skin medicine used for eczema and similar long-term skin conditions. A useful steroid-saving option for sensitive areas.
Uses
- Atopic dermatitis (eczema)
- Flare-ups on face, neck and skin folds
- Maintenance therapy between eczema flares
- Inflamed itchy skin not helped by mild steroids
How it works
Tacrolimus calms overactive skin immune cells, lowering inflammation, redness and itching without thinning the skin like steroids can.
How to take
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin as prescribed by your doctor. Rub in gently. Wash hands after, unless treating the hands. Avoid covering with airtight dressing.
Side effects
- Burning or warmth at the site for first few days
- Itching or redness
- Skin tingling
- Increased sensitivity to sun
Precautions
Avoid sunlight and sun lamps on treated areas. Do not use on infected skin. Tell your doctor about pregnancy, weak immunity or any skin cancer history.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C, away from direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of children's reach.
