About this test
The Hepatitis B Envelope Antibody test checks for antibodies produced in response to the Hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg). A positive result usually indicates that the Hepatitis B virus is becoming less active in the body and that the person is less likely to spread the infection to others. This test is mainly used to monitor the progress of a chronic Hepatitis B infection and evaluate how contagious the person can be.
