About
Esgipyrin from Abbott combines diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), with paracetamol, a pain and fever reliever. Together they tackle pain and inflammation from different angles.
Uses
- Short-term relief of moderate pain
- Joint, muscle and back pain
- Period pain and dental pain
- Fever with body aches
How it works
Diclofenac blocks the body's chemicals (prostaglandins) that cause pain, swelling and fever. Paracetamol works mainly in the brain to lower pain signals and bring temperature down.
How to take
Swallow whole with water, ideally with or just after food, as prescribed by your doctor. Use for the shortest time needed. Avoid taking other paracetamol-containing medicines alongside it.
Side effects
- Stomach upset, nausea, heartburn
- Indigestion or stomach pain
- Dizziness or headache
- Skin rash (uncommon)
Precautions
Tell your doctor about asthma, ulcers, kidney, liver or heart problems, high blood pressure, or if you take blood thinners. Avoid alcohol. Not recommended in late pregnancy. Stop and seek help if you notice black stools or severe stomach pain.
Storage
Store below 25 degrees C in a dry place, in the original strip, out of children's reach.
