About
Tizan 2 from Sun Pharma contains tizanidine, a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It is used to ease painful muscle stiffness and spasms linked to back problems and certain nerve disorders.
Uses
- Acute muscle spasm in back and neck pain
- Spasticity from multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury
- Painful muscle stiffness after strains or injuries
How it works
Tizanidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that quietens nerve signals in the spinal cord. With fewer signals reaching the muscle, tension eases and movement becomes more comfortable.
How to take
Take by mouth with water as prescribed by your doctor. Doses are usually stepped up slowly to limit drowsiness and low blood pressure. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Side effects
- Drowsiness or fatigue
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness, especially on standing
- Low blood pressure or weakness
Precautions
Share any history of liver disease, low blood pressure, kidney problems or use of strong antibiotics like ciprofloxacin. Avoid alcohol and be careful with driving until you know how it affects you.
