About this test
The test measures the levels of antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO) - enzyme used in thyroid hormone production. This test diagnoses autoimmune thyroid disorders like Hashimoto – s thyroiditis and Graves – disease, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid. It evaluates unexplained thyroid abnormalities, goiter or risks during pregnancy. It is ordered during symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, heat/cold intolerance, enlarged thyroid, constipation/diarrhoea, skin/hair problems etc.
