Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) Test checks the level of G6PD, an important enzyme in red blood cells which helps protect them from damage. A deficiency can lead to red blood cell breakdown (hemolysis), especially after certain infections, medications, or foods.
