About this test
This test measures the level of cortisol, a hormone made by adrenal glands which helps regulate stress, blood pressure, blood sugar and metabolism. Since cortisol levels naturally peak in the morning, the sample is taken between 6 AM and 10 AM for the most accurate results. It is often used to check for conditions like adrenal gland disorders, Cushing's syndrome, or Addison – s disease.
